Application and Admission Information
Although it can be demanding, the graduate application process doesn't have to be difficult. Below are some steps you can take to be better prepared for your application to UCSD.

Gather Information
    Visit the department website: Review websites of interest to become more familiar with information about the department/program, faculty, supplemental application materials, and admissions process. Learn more about UCSD Rankings and Faculty Awards.
    Contact the Department or Program: Contact the department or program with specific questions about the department, faculty research, and admissions process.
    Pre-application: Some departments require submission of a pre-application before the official Application for Graduate Admission is submitted.
Official Admission Requirements and Guidelines
    The Application for Graduate Admission provides admission requirements and guidelines. Application deadlines and requirements vary by department. All departments require that applicants complete the Application for Graduate Admission and provide the following:
    • Transcripts from the undergraduate institutions you've attended.
    • A Statement of Purpose.
    • Three letters of recommendation (can vary by department).
    • Notification of GRE scores (exceptions).
    • TOEFL scores for international applicants.
    • A nonrefundable application fee (check eligibility for limited application fee waivers).
