Child Care
International Cooperative Nursery School: Our educational philosophy is based on the principle that children learn through hands-on involvement with activities about which they are motivated to learn. At ICNS, we provide an environment in which child-initiated activities are encouraged and developmentally appropriate materials are utilized. Children gain social, emotional, physical and cognitive competence through these experiences. Art, creative movement, dramatic play, science, language arts, and math activities are all included. It is part of the ICNS philosophy to be culturally diverse. We do this by accepting children of UCSD faculty, staff and students, visiting foreign families and those from the local community. This makes ICNS a very welcome and friendly environment for children from all cultures and traditions. Our school maintains a one-to-five adult/student ratio (or better) with caring, cooping parents and a well-trained, professional staff. The goals of ICNS are to provide play experiences in a safe and exciting environment and to promote parent involvement and education.
